Born Kicking — Julie Vass

She Kicks, issue 3, October 2010 p.39

A Born Kicking questionnaire with Julie Vass, 16, described as England’s first Germany-based Belgian-Scot: born in Clacton-on-Sea to a Belgian mother and Scottish father, she is in the England Under-17 squad and plays for Bayern Munich’s Under-17 women’s team, the club she supports alongside England. Known as Jules with England and Jumbo in Germany, she plays with both feet, her right the stronger shot and her left the better aim, and prefers central midfield because she can influence the game most from there. Vass describes herself as creative and difficult to mark, would like to meet Steven Gerrard and play alongside Bayern’s Arjen Robben, and admits taking the credit for a corner that flew straight in when it should have been a pass. Her biggest fan and hero is her rabbit Floppy, who once fought off a cat.
