Born Kicking — Jessica Austin
She Kicks, issue SK18, December 2013 p.53
A Born Kicking questionnaire with a ten-year-old who plays for the Oxford United Girls Centre of Excellence under-13s. Jessica Louise Austin is called Jess by team-mates, though the boys she used to play with called her Speedy. She supports Liverpool, is left-footed and favours left wing because she likes beating defenders and crossing the ball. She would meet Steven Gerrard and play alongside Jill Scott or Lionel Messi, and picks a white shirt because she has always wanted to play for England. She describes herself as hard working, quick and determined, and recalls an under-10s game with inflatable goals in which her goalkeeper had to keep holding one up. Her superstition is a bacon butty made by her granddad, who is also her biggest fan.
