Born Kicking: Iris Fine and Emily Ashman

She Kicks, issue 54, June 2019 pp.62–63

Born Kicking goes international for the World Cup issue, putting its standard questionnaire to two young players on opposite sides of the world who turn out to share a taste in music. Iris Fine, nine, from Brussels plays in goal for RRC Etterbeek because she loves diving around, supports Liverpool, would most like to meet Alisson, Lucy Bronze and Ada Hegerberg, and names Steven Gerrard and Kelly Smith as her heroes. Emily Ashman, eleven, from Bentleigh in Victoria plays left midfield for a Glen Eira side named after the Matildas goalkeeper Melissa Barbieri, follows Melbourne City, Kopparbergs Goteborg, Arsenal and Djurgarden, and idolises Steph Catley and Olivia Schough. Both pick Queen: one for We Are The Champions, the other for Bohemian Rhapsody played loudly on the drive home.
