Born Kicking: Flo Gubba

The recurring Born Kicking Q&A for younger readers, with 13-year-old Phoenix FC Under-13 midfielder Flo Gubba, who plays in London’s new JPL Under-13s Girls League under a coach, Pratick, she credits with pushing girls’ football. Right-footed but working on her left, she likes centre-midfield for the chance to defend and attack, and describes herself as a vocal, encouraging leader. A Manchester United fan, she would pick Lauren James as a teammate and would like to meet Chloe Kelly, who attended her school, Elthorne Park, and David Beckham, for the free-kicks. Her heroes include her late grandfather, the commentator Tony Gubba. Her favourite moment: burying a free-kick into the top corner.
