Born Kicking: Eleni Kyriakou and Callie Reed
She Kicks, issue 55, August 2019 pp.66–67
The reader questionnaire goes to two of the youngest players it has featured, both of whom say the Lionesses inspired them. Eleni Kyriakou, six, from Shrewsbury plays for Bayston Hill Juniors and Shrewsbury Town’s under-eights, supports Tottenham and Shrewsbury, and describes herself as creative, fast, an amazing tackler and goalscorer. She plays striker because she is the best at scoring, would most like to meet Harry Kane, and names her Daddy as her hero. Asked what question she wished she had been asked, she supplies one: whether she will be a Lioness one day. Absolutely, she says. Callie Reed, ten, has just signed for Billericay Town Girls, supports West Ham, earns a pound a goal from her dad and grandad, and shouts mainly at her father.
