Born Kicking: Abi Hunt, and her prize-winning poem ‘Blue Moon Glory’

She Kicks, issue 41, May 2017 p.46

Abi Hunt went in goal at seven, has played for Everton and Manchester United and now keeps for Manchester City Under-12s, and answers the Born Kicking questions with the certainty of someone who knows exactly what she likes: bright yellow shirts, Karen Bardsley as the player she would most like to meet, Jill Scott as the team mate she would pick, an apple or banana as a post-match treat and her dad as her biggest fan. Her hero is her City goalkeeping coach Jenny Hurst. The page also carries her poem ‘Blue Moon Glory’, which won out of thirty-five thousand entries in the Once Upon a Dream competition and imagines a match at the Etihad before her father’s voice cuts in to tell her she will be late for football.
