Bonansea Is In It To Win It (Barbara Bonansea interview)
She Kicks, issue 54, June 2019 pp.28–29
Juventus forward Barbara Bonansea speaks to She Kicks before Italy’s first World Cup in twenty years, arriving off a Scudetto and Coppa Italia double. A winger by trade on both flanks, she describes moving centrally as a striker this season and learning to help the team rather than only think about scoring. She names Cristiano Ronaldo as the player she studies, and credits every coach she has had since sixteen. On the 2017 European Championship group-stage exit she is unsentimental, arguing the disappointment was useful and began a change in mentality as well as personnel, with Milena Bertolini replacing Antonio Cabrini. She recalls goalkeeper Rosalia Pipitone predicting qualification after a depleted 1-0 win in Portugal, and sets out her own goal plainly: she wants to win the World Cup.
