Ten photographs from the opening nine days of the 2020-21 Barclays FA Women’s Super League, the first competitive matches after the abandoned season and the summer’s remarkable transfer window. Jill Roord scores a second hat-trick in two games for Arsenal; Kenza Dali lifts West Ham’s scorer Adriana Leon; Aston Villa’s Stine Larsen races down the wing on the club’s first WSL appearance. Gareth Taylor gets a smile out of Georgia Stanway, Mollie Green appears for Birmingham City, Bristol City warm up at Bath City’s Twerton Park – the season’s most conspicuous ground move – and Hope Powell instructs her Brighton side as they hold on for a draw at Manchester City. Simone Magill opens the scoring for Everton, Sam Kerr strikes for Chelsea and Manchester United’s new Spanish signing Ona Batlle runs on to a ball. A caption block identifies every image, the photographs credited to FA photographers and PA Images.
