Barclays FAWSL Action Gallery, 24 January – 15 March 2021

Seven photographs from seven weeks of a Barclays FA WSL season played in empty grounds, each captioned with a hashtag pun. Gemma Evans heads a late point for Bristol City at Spurs; Megan Connolly is mobbed after scoring Brighton’s winner at Chelsea; West Ham’s Kate Longhurst is caught in a tangle with Beth England that the magazine insists was entirely innocent. Lotte Wubben-Moy heads Arsenal’s winner against Manchester United, Caroline Weir bends a ball over an Everton wall, Ruby Mace celebrates a last-kick equaliser for Birmingham at West Ham, and Reading’s Danielle Carter is the hero against United. It is a compact record of the middle third of the 2020-21 season, and one of the few places where these particular moments are collected together.
