Barclays FAWSL Action Gallery, 17 March – 9 May 2021, with Season Round-Up and Top Scorers

She Kicks, issue 67, June 2021 pp.8–9

Chelsea took back-to-back titles on 9 May, pushed hard by Manchester City, and the magazine notes that a Lucy Bronze effort in the closing seconds of the top two’s 2-2 draw in April could have taken it to the wire. Arsenal secured the third Champions League place, Bristol City went down, and Birmingham and Aston Villa breathed out. The printed scoring chart records Sam Kerr on 21, Vivianne Miedema 18, Fran Kirby 16, and Chloe Kelly and Ellen White on 10 apiece. Around it run eight captioned photographs: Mackenzie Arnold denying Janine Beckie, Maya Le Tissier scoring for Brighton, Christen Press stretching to control, Spurs remonstrating with a referee, and Everton in a huddle. A season played in empty grounds, recorded as a triumph.
