Back in the Habit (Manchester City)
Her Goal, issue 7, June 2026 pp.8–11
City’s long-awaited second WSL title arrived on 6 May without them kicking a ball, Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at Brighton settling it. A decade on from their 2016 win under Nick Cushing, this was also the first championship in seven years not to go to Chelsea. The season review runs through Andree Jeglertz’s first campaign in England, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s 21 goals and unprecedented third successive Golden Boot, followed by a surprise new four-year contract, and the attacking depth missing in recent years, with Vivianne Miedema, Kerolin, Lauren Hemp, Aoba Fujino and a returning Mary Fowler all contributing. Kerstin Casparij’s seven assists, Ayaka Yamashita’s emergence as first choice and Jade Rose’s debut season feature, alongside Grace Clinton and Sam Coffey as reasons for optimism next term.
