Aussie Invasion — Chelsea v Lincoln City (Continental Cup)

Former Australia international Alicia Ferguson, newly arrived in London, reports on Chelsea against Lincoln Ladies in a Continental Cup tie at Staines Town, catching up with her former Matildas and Brisbane Roar team-mates Collette McCallum and Laura Alleway, who have both joined the Lady Imps. Alleway was sitting out with eligibility delays but says she is loving the club. Lincoln dominated possession playing a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield and won 2-1: Precious Hamilton outmuscled Victoria Williams and looped a volley over Carly Telford, Helen Bleazard equalised for Chelsea, and Lucy Staniforth’s corner curled in at the near post. Rachel Daly was stretchered off late on. McCallum, still rebuilding match fitness after five months out, praises Casey Stoney’s organisation from the back.
