Arsenal’s Dutch Duo: Dominique Janssen & Sari van Veenendaal interview
She Kicks, issue 30, October 2015 p.14
Catherine Etoe meets Dominique Janssen and Sari van Veenendaal, the two Dutch internationals who arrived at Arsenal on 18-month contracts in July and are both enjoying life in the FA WSL despite silly dance routines, driving on the wrong side of the road and strange breakfasts. Janssen, 20, has been virtually ever-present in Pedro Martinez Losa’s midfield, making her debut against Liverpool three or four days after arriving, and credits more than a decade playing in a mixed team as the only girl plus two years at SGS Essen. Goalkeeper Van Veenendaal, 25, waited two weeks for her debut and has become a worthy challenger to Emma Byrne, whose sixteen years at the club she is keen to learn from. Both cite the desire to improve, and now share a house with Marta Corredera and Jade Bailey.
