Around the Counties: Women and Girls Football in Dorset is Growing

Dorset FA reports growth at both ends of the age range and in places the county had not previously reached. A new Women’s Recreational Division brought mums’ teams into the entry level, while Poole Town Ladies completed a first season in the FA Women’s Premier League, the highest level any Dorset club has played at. The SSE Wildcats programme expanded from three centres to eighteen for girls aged five to eleven, with three new teams already formed out of the pilot year, and the girls’ league grew to thirty-seven teams. Beyond the league structure, the county ran a festival for three hundred schoolgirls and started its first female-only disability side and its first female-only walking football group.
