Around the Counties: Sussex County FA

Sussex County FA reports six busy months for the women’s and girls’ game. In January it staged the first This Girl Can UK Women’s Football Festival, engaging over 100 female participants aged 16 to 19 from colleges and sixth forms, supported by an all-female student management team with a video produced by City College Brighton and Hove media students. A futsal series with the county women and girls league sent four teams to regional qualifiers, Crawley Wasps missing the Under-14 nationals on goal difference. In June the county hosted an FA Girls Football Festival at Brighton’s American Express Elite Performance Centre for 212 girls, supported by 28 staff of whom 23 were female. The county representative team has been relaunched and the women’s county cup revamped.
