Around the Counties: Derbyshire FA – Girls Can Play

Derbyshire FA runs five Girls Can Play sessions in the summer holidays, open to any girl aged eight to fourteen whether or not she has played before, at Heage Primary School, John Port School, Derby Moor Community Sports College, Ashover Primary School and Kirk Hallam Community Academy between 2 and 17 August. Football development officer Angie Harper describes them as a place to try football in a fun, safe and friendly environment and hopes the Lionesses’ success inspires a new generation. The county has also launched a Female Coach Mentoring Group with Derbyshire Sport, open to women sixteen and over who hold a coaching qualification or intend to gain one within six months, meeting four times a year.
