Alex Scott Interviews Ellen White
She Kicks, issue SK06, February 2012 p.4
Alex Scott returns as She Kicks’ guest interviewer to question her England team-mate Ellen White, the Arsenal striker, across five pages. White calls World Cup selection a moment that made her jump around the house and rates Germany 2011 possibly the best Women’s World Cup ever for its organisation and crowds. She reflects on Arsenal’s clean sweep of the FA Women’s Cup, the inaugural Super League and the Continental Cup, plus a Champions League semi-final, and on the penalty shoot-out defeat by France in which she was not among the five takers. She explains leaving Arsenal at 16 for Chelsea and Leeds Carnegie before returning, describes the club’s charity tour to Japan, and laughs about Fara Williams casting her as Faye White’s little sister. Mia Hamm and Kelly Holmes are named as role models.
