Alex & Kelly Kick Back
She Kicks Special Edition, June 2011 p.6
A six-page joint interview with the Boston Breakers and England teammates ahead of the finals, alternating serious answers with heavy banter. Both name the 2007 opening game against Japan as their favourite World Cup memory, Smith for her two goals and Scott for the feeling inside the stadium. Scott explains that turning professional lets her train daily rather than fitting sessions around work, and describes setting up cones in a local park in 2007 while her dogs ran off with them. They discuss England’s growing confidence, wins over the United States and Sweden, and the pain of the Euro 2009 final. Lighter answers cover Scott’s fish finger sandwich, a night stranded without a hotel room near Heathrow, Jill Scott’s dancing, Eniola Aluko leaving her belongings everywhere, and shirts they would swap.
