Interview
Addickted to Charlton
She Kicks, issue SK06, February 2012 p.26
An interview with Kimberley Dixson, captain of FA Women’s Premier League National Division side Charlton Women’s FC, who passed 100 games for the club against Aston Villa in December. Dixson is pleased with third place, having hoped only for the top half, and credits manager Paul Mortimer, a former professional, for insisting the team plays football. She describes a young squad whose midfield averages around eighteen, singling out 16-year-old Kit Graham and 17-year-old Courteney Gibson, and says she feels old at 24. She talks about a season at Watford disrupted by injury, her work for the Charlton Community Trust in Bexley and her role managing the club’s under-15s, and does not rule out a return to international level or the Super League, though she would rather reach it with Charlton.
