Celtic’s Maria McAneny was presented with the Guinness World Records title for the fastest goal in women’s football. The Scotland prospect scored 4.10 seconds into the SWPL game against champions Hibernian on 10 December 2025, shooting from just inside the opposition half with the ball in open play. McAneny, 21, received her certificate from Guinness World Records editor-in-chief and adjudicator Craig Glenday on 25 March at the club’s Barrowfield Training Centre in Glasgow. She said there had been no practice and it was a spur-of-the-moment thing: there was a Plan B, but she told teammate Saoirse Noonan she was going to go for it, and thankfully it went in.
