A Red Flame in City Red

A WSL player interview with Bristol City’s Belgian forward Yana Daniels, known as Danny, one of three Red Flames at the club. She describes herself as a winger comfortable on either flank, a player who flies all over the field, rushing and keeping the pressure on, relishing one-against-one situations. Daniels says she had no childhood footballing hero, simply loving the game and supporting the Belgium national team. She has found the English level more physical and powerful than she was used to, but says it gives her an extra boost, and praises her club’s philosophy of trying to play football with good organisation and bravery. Having followed the league online and been impressed by the Spring Series, she found the move an easy decision and felt welcome from her first visit. Now finished studying Agro- and Biotechnology, she can focus fully on football.
