A Cup Story: Round By Round to The City Ground
She Kicks, issue 2, April 2010 p.9
Photographer James Prickett’s three-page picture essay follows the 2009-10 FA Women’s Cup from September to the City Ground, in chronological rather than round order thanks to a Baltic winter. It begins with Eastleigh 5-0 Boscombe Albion and a pink ball, Alice Thorne’s hat-trick, then Aldershot Town’s 1-0 win over Southampton Saints, Oxford United 7-1 Stony Stratford (score disputed on the day) and Braintree Town 3-0 Sawbridgeworth. Later rounds take in Gillingham 6-0 Oxford City on Remembrance Sunday, Copsewood 2-3 Stoke City, Leicester City 0-3 Millwall Lionesses, Havant and Waterlooville’s 2-1 win at Cardiff, Birmingham 0-1 Doncaster Rovers Belles, Yeovil 0-1 Nottingham Forest, and the Everton and Arsenal semi-final wins over Barnet and Chelsea. Prickett’s Picks salute a Boscombe lookalike and Oxford City’s Superman. A final preview notes Jayne Ludlow’s red card against Fara Williams in the league meeting.
