2026 Subway Women’s League Cup Final

Her Goal, issue 6, May 2026 pp.6–7

Chelsea beat Manchester United 2-0 at Ashton Gate on 15 March to retain the Subway Women’s League Cup, before a competition-record crowd of 21,619. The breakthrough came inside 20 minutes when Dominique Janssen miskicked while trying to control a throw-in and Lauren James ran on to finish confidently past Phallon Tullis-Joyce. United threatened often, Elisabeth Terland hitting the bar and Ellen Wangerheim shooting narrowly wide. On 76 minutes half-time substitute Aggie Beever-Jones outmuscled Hanna Lundkvist to chest down a Johanna Rytting Kaneryd cross and flick it inside the near post. It is Chelsea’s fourth League Cup from seven finals; Marc Skinner conceded United must learn to score that kind of goal.
