2024 FA Cup Final: Manchester United 4-0 Tottenham Hotspur
She Kicks, issue 85, July 2024 pp.6–7
Manchester United finally got their hands on the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, seeing off 2023 runners-up Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in front of a bumper Wembley crowd of 76,082. Lionesses midfielder Ella Toone continued her love affair with the national stadium, breaking the deadlock with a first-half stoppage-time strike from 25 yards, before Rachel Williams headed home her first goal in the competition’s showpiece in 12 years. Substitute Lucía García wrapped up Player of the Match honours with a composed finish after capitalising on a mistake from Spurs goalkeeper Becky Spencer. It was United’s first silverware since promotion to the WSL in 2019, and a first major trophy for manager Marc Skinner, in the third FA Cup final of his career, adding some gloss to an otherwise underwhelming league campaign for the fifth-placed Red Devils.
