2023 Continental Cup Final: Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea
She Kicks, issue 78, April 2023 pp.10–11
Arsenal recovered from the fastest of starts against them to beat Chelsea 3-1 at Selhurst Park and win a sixth League Cup, in front of a competition-record crowd of 19,010. Sam Kerr headed the Blues in front from a Guro Reiten cross after just 98 seconds, but Stina Blackstenius, who had also scored the crucial extra-time goal in the semi-final against Manchester City, levelled on sixteen minutes. Kim Little, imperious throughout and named player of the match, converted from the spot after Katie McCabe was fouled, and on the stroke of half-time Rafaelle’s header deflected in off Niamh Charles. It was the Gunners’ first silverware since the 2019 WSL title. Jonas Eidevall said the way his side came back showed what they were made of.
