She Kicks, issue 71, February 2022 pp.8–9

A two-page report on the delayed 2020-21 Women’s FA Cup final, played at Wembley on 5 December 2021 before 40,942 and refereed by Helen Conley, in which Chelsea beat Arsenal 3-0 to complete a domestic treble for the first time. The magazine notes the game fell on the hundredth anniversary of the FA’s ban on the women’s game. Fran Kirby opened the scoring in the third minute and Sam Kerr added a second-half double on 57 and 77 minutes against then league leaders in a surprisingly one-sided encounter. Player of the Match Kerr says Chelsea went in as underdogs with a point to prove. Emma Hayes calls it the best game she has seen Kirby play in a Chelsea shirt and Kerr the best striker in the world; Jonas Eidevall describes feeling powerless. Full line-ups are printed.
