She Kicks, issue 54, June 2019 pp.8–9
Manchester City retained the Women’s FA Cup with a 3-0 win over first-time finalists West Ham United at Wembley on 4 May 2019, in front of 43,264 spectators. The match turned on the second half. Jane Ross had gone close for West Ham before Keira Walsh opened the scoring on 52 minutes, Georgia Stanway added a second on 81 and the teenage substitute Lauren Hemp sealed it on 88, giving Nick Cushing’s side a comfortable margin that the first hour had not suggested. Stanway, named player of the match, dedicated the award to her team-mates and spoke about the crowd making the work worthwhile. West Ham manager Matt Beard called it a game of two halves and said he was proud of what the club had built in so short a time.
