Match report
2018 SSE Women’s FA Cup Final: Arsenal 1-3 Chelsea
She Kicks, issue 48, July 2018 pp.12–13
Over forty thousand people came to Wembley in the evening sunshine and saw Chelsea, the best side in England that season, beat Arsenal 3-1 to complete the double. Ramona Bachmann scored twice in the second half and was named player of the match, Vivianne Miedema pulled one back and Fran Kirby settled it three minutes later with a left foot she says had been sending the ball everywhere in training all week. Joe Montemurro, twenty weeks into the job, accepted that big-game players play on big stages. Emma Hayes was as proud of the 45,423 as of the trophy, refused to countenance free tickets because these are professionals now, and challenged the FA to make it sixty thousand next year.
