2018 FA Women’s Football Awards: Celebrating 20 Years

The twentieth FA Women’s Football Awards gathered the game from grassroots to elite at The Brewery in Islington, and Chelsea led it as they had led the season, taking Club of the Year with Emma Hayes as Head Coach. Goalkeepers did unusually well: Sophie Baggaley won the first Save of the Season, and Ann-Katrin Berger, back after treatment for thyroid cancer, shared the WSL 1 Players’ Player award with Jill Scott. Ellen White took both the Golden Boot and England Player of the Year, her husband collecting them because she was at home with a cup of tea. Beth Mead sent a video she filmed herself four times over. A Special Award went to Sue Lopez and to the retiring journalist Tony Leighton.
