2018-19 UWCL Action Gallery: Chelsea Face Holders Lyon in Last Four

She Kicks, issue 53, April 2019 pp.8–9

Chelsea reach a second successive Champions League semi-final in the 91st minute in Paris. Second-half strikes by Hannah Blundell and Erin Cuthbert had given them a 2-0 first-leg lead, but Kadidiatou Diani scored soon after the restart and Ann-Katrin Berger fumbled a corner into her own net, leaving extra time looking likely until Norway captain Maren Mjelde struck from a Karen Carney pass. Emma Hayes’s side are drawn against holders and five-time champions Lyon, who won 4-2 at Wolfsburg for a 6-3 aggregate despite two Pernille Harder goals. Barcelona beat LSK Kvinner 4-0 on aggregate and Bayern Munich overturned Slavia Praha 6-2 to set up the other semi-final. The final is at the Ferencvaros Stadium in Budapest on 18 May 2019.
