England Women celebrated their 500th match with a 1-0 victory over Iceland, thanks to a goal from Alessia Russo in World Cup Qualifying League A Group 3.
England took a first-half lead on the break as Lauren Hemp found Alessia Russo, who turned sharply and fired across goalkeeper Cecilia Runarsdottir and inside the far post.
With the Lionesses unable to add to their lead, they had to survive a few scares, especially when Sandra María Jessen hit the post and the rebound fell to Diljá Ýr Zomers, whose effort was smothered by goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.
Alexandra Jóhannsdóttir also threatened at the back post, but Hampton rushed off her line to make a crucial save.
With four wins from four, England still lead the group by three points from Spain.
