AFC Bournemouth Women and Burnley Women Lead on Goal-Difference

Three games into the FA WNL season, AFC Bournemouth Women and Burnley Women lead their respective Premier Divisions on goal-difference.

Northern Premier Division
Burnley 5-0 Loughborough Lightning
Halifax 0-2 Sporting Khalsa
Liverpool Feds 2-3 West Bromwich Albion (Att: 175)

Rugby Borough 2-3 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Burnley are goal-difference ahead of Wolves and Hull after a five star show over Loughborough, Wanderers held off a late Rugby fightback for a 3-2 result aided by Amber Hughes’ double, City taking a point at Stoke. Ellen Turnbull was Middlesbrough’s match winner at the Riverside, West Brom came from behind to win at Liverpool Feds, Sporting Khalsa put their first three points on the board at Halifax.

AFC Bournemouth were held at home by Exeter but lead the table on goal-difference from Lewes and Watford. The Rooks beat Real Bedford, the Hornets won away to AFC Wimbledon at Plough Lane. Layla Proctor scored four of Plymouth’s nine past Billericay, Tia Asker got the sole goal as Gwalia saw off Hashtag, Bella Hall’s early goal was enough for Cheltenham to take the points against Oxford.

Peterborough, Boldmere and Leafield all made it three wins from three; the Posh 5-1 victors at Sutton Coldfield, the Mikes with the sole goal at Northampton from Grace Gregory, similarly Gemma Fraser for Athletic at Worcester. Sheffield FC overcame Stourbridge 5-1, Barnsley Women sank hosts Lincoln 7-0, Kidderminster claimed their first win of the season over Notts County

Cheadle made it three straight wins with a Jess Lightfoot goal at Leeds, Doncaster also beat Blackburn by a single goal scored by Abi Coley. Fliss Jones netted three for seven-goal Huddersfield, Bianca Owens likewise for Norton for a 3-2 success at Stockport. Wythenshawe struck three times before half time at Chester le Street, Chorley’s first win came 4-1 over Durham Cestria.

London Bees are top after a 4-0 victory at MK Dons, Fulham also on maximum points from three games following a 4-2 defeat of Norwich. Jade Bell’s hat-trick gave Cambridge a 3-1 result over Dulwich, Actonians struck four times in the last 20 minutes at Luton, Jess Leach’s penalty saw QPR win at Chatham, Chesham and Sudbury both got off the mark after a 1-1 draw.

Annie Colston’s goal for Swindon against Ascot extended their perfect start to a third game, Moneyfields won 3-0 at Portishead, Bristol Rovers going one better at home to Bournemouth Sports. Katie Vince bagged a brace in Maidenhead’s three first-half goals against Worthing, Bridgwater also won by a three-goal margin at Keynsham, while Abingdon and Marine Academy shared four goals.
