Aberdeen Women saw off the challenge of second-tier Queen’s Park to retain their place in the ScottishPower SWPL top flight.
The Dons’ status was under threat after finishing next-to-bottom in the SWPL table, while Queen’s Park secured their spot in the play-off final by overcoming Boroughmuir Thistle and long-time SWPL 2 leaders Kilmarnock.
Naomi McLaughlin opened the scoring for Aberdeen at Airdrie FC, and they doubled the lead before half-time as Maddie Finnie headed home following a corner.
McLaughlin grabbed her second goal of the evening after the restart, Toni-Leigh Finnegan further extended the advantage, and Darcie Miller tapped in the fifth for a 5-0 result.
Aberdeen head coach Scott Booth told afc.co.uk: “I thought there’s always a degree of apprehension when you come into a play-off game because it’s a one-off match. But I felt the players had the right amount of desire, hunger, and willingness to put into practice the things we’ve been doing much better in recent games.
