Jordan Nobbs scored the only goal of the game as Newcastle United Women defeated Southampton 1-0 in Barclays WSL 2.
The Magpies took the lead before the first quarter of an hour was up, with Charlotte Wardlaw going on a long run before crossing for Jordan Nobbs to head past Fran Stenson into the far corner of the net.
The Saints had a chance at the end of the first half, but Atlanta Primus fired straight at goalkeeper Anna Tamminen.
Southampton threatened more in the second half, but Ellie Brazil fired over from one of their better opportunities.
The result put Newcastle fourth on goal difference as they extended their unbeaten run to five games.
Southampton remain seventh in the table and without a win in three outings.
