Big Draws for Liverpool Women and Spurs Women

Liverpool Women pegged back Chelsea for a draw, Spurs Women denied Arsenal in a goalless derby.

Tottenham Hotspur held Arsenal to a goalless draw to remain level on points with the fourth-placed Gunners.The half-time addition of Olivia Smith helped to pile pressure on Spurs, but without a breakthrough, Arsenal have slipped eight points behind leaders Manchester City.

Liverpool pegged back Chelsea for a 1-1 draw but slipped to last place with two points on the board. Alyssa Thompson put the Blues ahead with an angled effort into the top corner, but the Reds levelled after Beata Olsson ran half the pitch to slot the ball past Olivia Peng.

West Ham claimed their first win with a 3-0 defeat of Everton, to get off the bottom of the table. Anouk Denton scored the opener for the Hammers, with Amber Tysiak doubling their advantage before the break by heading in Viviane Asseyi’s corner. Early in the second half it was 3-0, with Shekiera Martinez scoring after a cut-back from Riko Ueki. Katja Snoeijs responded with a consolation after Rion Ishikawa headed the ball back from a corner.

London City Lionesses left Villa Park with a 3-1 victory, despite Aston Villa havig levelled. Saki Kumagai stooped to head in Kosovare Asllani’s corner for the Lionesses at the far post, but Kirsty Hanson equalised with a shot slipping through the legs of goalkeeper Elene Lete. London City regained the lead with a tap-in from Izzy Goodwin after Freya Gregory hooked the ball into the goalmouth. Soon it was 3-1 with another header from Kumagai as Wassa Sangaré nodded on Asllani’s flag-kick.

Brighton beat Leicester City 4-1 to move up to seventh spot. Madison Haley dinked the ball over the Foxes’ goalkeeper, Janina Leitzig, after she was played in by Kiko Seike. The lead was doubled just two minutes after the interval, Maelys Mpome connecting with a ball from Nadine Noordam. Shannon O’Brien knocked the ball around a defender and hit the net to halve the deficit. Marisa Olislagers made the game safe for Brighton with a strike from Noordam’s cut-back, Seike completed the scoring when following up on a parried free-kick.
