Birmingham City Women defeated 10-player Nottingham Forest 3-0 at the City Ground on Monday to move second in the Barclays WSL 2 on goal difference.

The Blues made the breakthrough approaching half time, as Veatriki Sarri struck from outside the box into the bottom corner.

Fourth-placed Forest were down to 10 players with less than 10 minutes of the 90 remaining, after Jessie Stapleton’s handball in the penalty area.

Sarri scored her second of the evening by converting the spot kick, and in added time it was 3-0 on the break as Lee Geum-Min set up Batcheba Louis.

The result lifted Birmingham back into second spot, narrowly ahead of Bristol City.
