Vignola Hat Trick Sees Everton Women Storm Back To Beat Liverpool

Everton Women came from behind to beat Liverpool at Anfield, led by three goals from Barclays WSL debutant Ornella Vignola.

Everton took their chances to establish a strong position over Liverpool, who had begun the game well.

Cornelia Kapocs fired the hosts ahead via the crossbar, having earlier in the move exchanged passes with Marie-Therese Höbinger.

Gemma Bonner’s volley was tipped onto the bar by Courtney Brosnan but it was the visitors who scored the second goal, Hayley Ladd starting the breakaway for Vignola to do the rest all by herself.

Ceri Holland curled her effort off the far post, the Toffees though scoring again in first-half added time as Katja Snoeijs’s header from a Maz Pacheco cross beat keeper Faye Kirby.

Vignola got her second with a header from another Pacheco delivery, moments later her hat-trick was complete aided by a deflection off Lily Woodham.

Brighton and Aston Villa play out goalless draw.

Albion’s Fran Kirby found the net but it was ruled out for offside, Rachel Daly was denied for Villa by the bar.

Michelle Agyemang’s shot for the home side deflected off Anna Patten onto the post.

Manchester United made a winning start at home to Leicester City, cemented by a Melvine Malard brace.

Ella Toone’s low drive had enough on it to beat goalkeeper Janina Leitzig, United were two up as Elisabeth Terland headed in from Jade Riviere’s cross.

Melvine Malard headed the third from a Dominique Janssen, later curling the ball home to double her tally.

Spurs were narrow winners over West Ham thanks to an 86th-minute penalty.

Eveliina Summanen was brought down in the area by Katrina Gorry, Bethany England’s spot-kick could oly be helped into the net by substitute keeper Mega Walsh.
