Glasgow City gained a 3-0 first leg home lead over Athlone Town in the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup 1st Qualifying Round, while Hibernian were beaten 4-1 away to Inter Milan before the return tie at Easter Road next week.

Amy Anderson had Glasgow City a goal up in 15 minutes, the opportunity put on a plate for her by Lisa Määttä’s ball across the six-yard box.

Määttä set up the second goal for Linda Motlhalo and shortly afterwards completed a hat-trick of assists as Lisa Forrest finished.

Hibs were two goals down inside the first 10 minutes in Milan, Haley Bugeja’s opener add to by Olivia Schough’s drilled first-time strike.

Just 30 seconds after the interval, Elisa Polli tapped Inter into a 3-0 lead but the visitors had hope when Eilidh Adams swept home Caley Gibb’s cross.

The reigning Scottish champions forced a corner with 10 minutes to go but a swift counter-attack saw Benedetta Glionna rifle home a fourth for the hosts.
