Ahead of next weekend’s Barclays WSL big kick-off, Spurs Women travelled to Southampton and Bristol City Women entertained Newcastle United.

Tottenham Hotspur ended pre-season with a 3-1 victory over Southampton at AFC Totton.

Martha Thomas gave Spurs a first-half lead over the Saints, 10 minutes after the interval Atlanta Primus got through on goal to tuck away the equaliser.

A Jess Naz solo effort restored the lead for Spurs, Olivia Holdt then putting them 3-1 up.

Bristol City were 2-0 winners over fellow WSL2 side Newcastle United at Ashton Gate.

Ella Powell fired Bristol City ahead midway through the first half, a second goal soon followed as Rio Hardy whipped in a cross for Maria Farrugia to sweep home.

Another Hardy delivery before the break almost produced a third goal but Lexi Lloyd-Smith hit the crossbar.

Fran Bentley pulled off a great save to thwart Molly Pike and keep a clean sheet.
