London City Lionesses have signed England international Katie Zelem and Matildas’ centurion Alanna Kennedy from Angel City FC.
Zelem twice won the WSL with Liverpool, lifted the FA Cup at Manchester United and helped England finish runners-up at the 2023 World Cup.
Kennedy plays as a centre-back or defensive midfielder, has over 100 caps for Australia, featuring three World Cups and three Olympics. She has previously played in the WSL with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
Zelem told londoncitylionesses.com: “I’m really excited to sign for London City and can’t wait to get going.
“I think being the first independent team in the WSL is an amazing achievement, it feels like since I joined the league, the growth in women’s football has been exceptional. I really can’t wait to be a part of this club.
“Hopefully I can bring a lot of experience, knowledge and some good football to the team.”

Kennedy commented: “I’m really excited to be part of such an amazing club with great impressions. I can’t wait to meet everyone and get the season started.
“I’m excited to be part of such a historic season for the club.
“It’s something that is going to take time to build, I’m excited to be a part of the early stages of this project and hopefully we can have a lot of success this season.”
