The FA WNL Cup Group Stage kicked off on Tuesday 19 August, when Hope Knight hit a hat-trick for Hull City Ladies.

Knight’s treble helped Hull City defeat Doncaster Rovers 5-1, Ellie Tanser and Maiya Akrill also scored for the hosts while Laila Abadi replied from 25 yards for the Belles.

Norwich City eventually confirmed their victory over Peterborough United, when Eloise Hall netted on 88 minutes to add to the opener from Issy Moore.

Notts County did level against Derby County through an own goal but the Rams ran out 4-1 winners with Georgia Stevens twice on target, Kate Oakley and Marnie Drake the other scorers.

Billericay Town also got back to 1-1 at AFC Sudbury through Tyana Nee-Chambers but lost out to three first-half goals by Leonie Bezant, Amy leigh Abrehart (penalty) and Georgie Morton.

Aston Villa Academy hit hosts Sutton Coldfield Town for six, while Ascot United held Moneyfields to a goalless draw.

Bristol Rovers’ match with Bridgwater United was subject to a last-minute venue change, then there was a floodlight failure at Bristol Telephones FC which ultimately led to the abandonment.
