Aston Villa Women drew 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain and Spurs Women were goalless against Sevilla in Pre-Season Friendlies on Friday 15 August.

Playing PSG in Deauville, Villa hit the woodwork after Sarah Mayling’s through ball saw Lucy Parker take a shot from close range.

Elimbi Gilbert threatened for the hosts with a rocket from distance but goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo pushed it over the top.

Rachel Daly had gone close with a couple of headers in the first half, two minutes after the restart she found Ebony Salmon who held off her marker to slot past the keeper.

Villa were denied the win eight minutes from time, when Gilbert’s looping effort dropped into the far corner of the net.

Tottenham Hotspur took on Sevilla at the Estadio Jesús Navas, where Lize Kop did well to keep out a strike by the Spanish side’s Kanteh Cham.

Jess Naz was denied by a block from Isabel Alvarez Tenorio and shortly afterwards, Martha Thomas forced a fine save from Esther Sullastres Ayuso.

Matilda Vinberg nearly made the breakthrough with 20 minutes to go but Ayuso tipped her shot over the crossbar.
