Spanish midfielder Vicky Losada has departed Brighton & Hove Albion following the expiry of her contract.

Losada, who played nearly 300 times for Barcelona over three spells, joined Brighton in July 2023 and quickly became an integral part of the squad, making 47 appearances in all competitions.

Head coach Dario Vidosic said: “I’d like to thank Vicky – both personally and on behalf of the team – for her unwavering dedication to this club over the past two seasons.

“Although we only shared one season here, she played a huge role in helping me settle into the job and was a constant source of support and guidance.

“As a player, her accolades speak for themselves. She’s a commanding presence on the pitch, and her wealth of experience is clear for all to see.

“As a person, she truly embodies what it means to be a captain and a leader – respected and admired by both players and staff, on and off the pitch.

“She epitomises the values we stand for as a club and has been fully committed to driving us forward in our ambition to establish ourselves as a top four WSL side. Her contribution to our historic season last year was nothing short of pivotal, and that achievement will always be a proud part of our legacy.”

Women’s and Girls’ Managing Director Zoe Johnson said: “Vicky has been an integral part of this club since she joined two years ago. The commitment, passion, and professionalism she has shown to the staff, players, and our fans has been nothing short of admirable.

“She has played a pivotal role in shifting the narrative and mindset around what this club can achieve, helping to raise ambitions and set new standards on and off the pitch.

“We are incredibly grateful for her contributions and leadership during her time with us.”

Losada joined Albion from AS Roma and was one of the first signings during the 2023 summer transfer window.

Her first goal in a Brighton shirt came in the Women’s FA Cup fourth round against Luton Town, where she headed home in the 39th minute giving Albion a 2-0 lead in their 6-0 victory.

Upon her arrival on the south coast, she also became an ambassador for the Brighton and Hove Albion Foundation. In recognition of her continued commitment to community projects, she was named the club’s PFA Community Champion for the 2024/25 season.
