London City Lionesses have signed former England U-23 international defender Poppy Pattinson from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The left-back clocked up over 40 caps for the Young Lionesses age-groups, made more than 50 appearances for Brighton and has also previously played in the top flight for Bristol City and Everton.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Poppy to the club,” said

Head Coach Jocelyn Prêcheur told londoncitylionesses.com of her latest recruit: “She’s technically sharp, tactically mature, and brings the kind of experience and ambition we’re looking for.”

Director of Football Ronald Thompson added: “She is a good player to have on and off the field.

“I’ve known Poppy since she was in the England U-17s squad, and at that stage her talent stood out. A combative defender who can also play, Poppy’s ability to see the pictures as they develop in front of her allows her to make good decisions.

Pattinson commented: “Becoming a London City Lioness is very exciting; I want to help the team as much as possible and bring my experience and strengths to the club. I want us to finish as high as we can and make our mark in the WSL.”
