Birmingham City have brought back Shannon Cooke on permanent deal, following her loan spell from West Ham United last season.

The defender made eight appearances for the Blues in the second half of the campaign, netting a 40-yard strike which won the team’s Goal of the Season award.

Speaking to Blues+, Cooke said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my time here on loan, so it felt right to make it a permanent.

“I loved the direction that the club’s going in and I genuinely believe in the ambition of the club. I think it’s a great group of girls, and a great staff group as well where I believe that I can progress as an individual and as a team.”

The former England youth international played 37 times for the Hammers, whom she joined after four-and-a-half years with Louisiana State University Tigers.
