Currently playing at UEFA Women’s EURO with Finland, Sanni Franssi has joined London City Lionesses from Spanish club Real Sociedad.

She made 135 appearances in the Spanish topflight, scoring 35 goals and has over 90 caps for her country.

Her earlier club career features league title successes with Denmark’s Fortuna Hjørring and in the Serie A with Juventus.

Franssi told londoncitylionesses.com: “I’m really excited, it is an exciting project and club to be a part of. It’s a club with a lot of ambition; they want to do great things. These types of projects are always the most exciting to be a part of for a player. Fans can expect a lot of energy from me on the pitch; I will always give my all for the team. I can’t wait to meet everyone and give the fans a great season!”

Director of Football Ronald Thompson commented: “Sanni brings a wealth of experience to us having played in the Spanish league for the past 5 years and a seasoned international having been involved in major championships. A dynamic front line player who will bring energy and drive into our attacking options. Her experiences will be valuable to the younger players within the squad.”
