Manchester City have made Canadian international defender Jade Rose their first signing of the summer.

The versatile defensive player makes the move from US WPSL side FC Premier, signing a four-year contract at the Joie Stadium.

She has 30 caps for her country and in 2023 was named 2023 Canada Soccer Women’s Young Player of the Year.

Rose told mancity.com: “I’m so incredibly excited [to join City], so proud of how far I’ve come, and I just can’t wait to get started. I think the history of the Club, the fans, the style of play, the city, everything [attracted me to City].

“I’m just super excited to get started. I’m ready to win the Champions Leagues, to win every trophy that’s out there. I think the sky is the limit for this team and I can’t wait to grow and get at it.”

Director of Football Therese Sjogran said: “Jade is a talented young player we’ve been monitoring for a while now and we’re delighted to bring her in.

“She arrives here with an incredible amount of experience under her belt for club and country, and she will certainly have the opportunity to showcase her skills here at City.

“From speaking to her it’s clear she’s hungry to improve on her already impressive talents, and we think she will be a great fit for our squad on and off the pitch with the people she will have around her. Jade can become an important player for City, both now and in the future.”
