Rangers ran out 3-0 winners over Glasgow City in the Scottish Gas Women’s Cup Final at Hampden Park.
The woodwork was hit three times in the opening 20 minutes, Rangers’ Mia McAulay denied by the post and team-mate Kathy Hill heading against the crossbar, before Glasgow City’s Nicole Kozlova – who had been thwarted by outrushing goalkeeper Jenna Fife early on – struck the bar from the edge of the box.
Rangers took the lead after 25 minutes, McAulay’s angled effort across goalkeeper Lee Gibson this time perfect and going inside the upright.
The lead was doubled when Kirsty Howat took the ball down, turned her marker Samantha van Diemen and found the bottom corner.
Seconds later McAulay was through on goal but Gibson blocked the shot to keep her side in it.
But five minutes after the interval it was 3-0, Howat with her second when sliding home a pass from Chelsea Cornet.
Kozlova missed a golden chance to get a goal back with 20 minutes to go and then City were down to ten when Van Diemen’s yellow card was upgraded to a red, following a VAR referral.
