Glasgow City’s Scotland centurion Hayley Lauder and goalkeeper Lee Gibson have signed contract extensions until the summer of 2026, while Fiona Brown will retire at the end of the season.
Upon signing her new deal, Lauder said: “It feels really good. I’ve been here for a long time now. I’ve seen the progression of the club, and I’m delighted to extend my stay.
“As an individual and as a player, I still have that drive. I’ve shown this season that I can still contribute to the team, and it is something that I love being part of. Ultimately, I still want to have more success and City is the place that matches my ambition.”
Head coach Leanne Ross said: “Hayley has been an important player for Glasgow City for a number of years now and we are all thrilled that will continue.
“She is a model professional and someone who I know every player in the squad looks up to and respects. She drives standards in the way she acts off the pitch and the way she plays on it.”

After signing her new deal, Gibson said: “I’m delighted to play for the club. It has always been a huge honour for me, and I want to continue to contend and win a lot more trophies.
“I’m hungry for more. You get the appetite when you first join this club. You know what is expected of you and that is to compete on all fronts. I’ve been very fortunate to win a lot of silverware, and I’ve got the desire for even more.
“The club is a standalone club and is the most successful in Scottish women’s football for a reason. There is nowhere else I would rather be.”
Leanne Ross commented: “We are all pleased that Lee has extended her time with us.
“The impact she has had on this team over the years is immeasurable. Every day in training we see how she pushes standards to the next level and that has been reflected in the success she has had with us.
“Her professionalism, performances and presence in the team are what set her apart. She remains one of the best in the Scottish game and I look forward to seeing her continue to thrive over the next year.”
Upon announcing her plans to retire, Fiona Brown said: “The risk is that I could easily get injured again and with my body type and history, I can’t afford to do that as there is not much more that could be done.”
She continued: “I’m happy that I was here [when the ACL injury happened] because I was at home with my friends, family and boyfriend and I was able to have such a laugh with the people I was with every day.
‘’If you had told me when I was younger what I would achieve despite everything that has happened I would be genuinely chuffed.”
Chief Executive Laura Montgomery added: “If I was to pick an ideal player to play for our club, I would want someone who respects others, believes in and lives our values, lights up a room with their personality, encourages others at all times and energises the group.
“They would be professional on and off the pitch, a winner, resilient, an incredible talent, two footed, fast, scores goals and big important goals at that when the pressure is on. Someone who checks in on her team mates to ensure they are ok, an international footballer, proud to represent her country and play at major international tournaments. Someone who always appreciates and always says thank you. I would pick Fiona Brown.”
