Chelsea are Barclays Women’s Super League champions after their 1-0 win away to Manchester United followed Aston Villa’s stunning 5-2 defeat of Arsenal.

Grace Clinton was twice denied a first-half opener for United, Naomi Girma blocking her follow-up to Hannah Hampton’s save from Melvine Malard, then Hampton pushing over her shot.
Phallon Tullis-Joyce made a double save for United after the break but was beaten to the ball by Lucy Bronze, who headed home a Sandy Baltimore corner with 15 minutes left.

Following a double save from Aston Villa goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo, a swift breakaway move saw Ebony Salmon find Jordan Nobbs in the middle and place the ball past Manuela Zinsberger into the Arsenal net.
Villa doubled their lead in first-half added time, Kirsty Hanson rifling the ball home from 20 yards.
Just 45 seconds after the interval and Chasity Grant took advantage of a loose touch from Katie McCabe to turn the ball past goalkeeper Zinsberger for a third goal.
Hanson played a perfect pass through for Rachel Daly to stab the ball home for 4-0, Stina Blackstenius replying and further hope of a Gunners comeback came with Alessia Russo’s diving header off a Katie Reid.
Moments later Grant got Villa’s fifth with a strong finish after a one-two with Jill Baijings.
